Exhibition Day – The Funfair Day for All Family

What is the definition “Exhibition” for you? Well, for me the word of exhibition is means the “funfair day”! I remembered that when I still in my childhood, my father used to bring us to the local area exhibition showrooms. Usually, the exhibition is full with crowd; the adults busy of looking and enquiring for the new products release, while the children were busy playing with their siblings/friends (That’s why I’m used to call the exhibition day as “funfair day”).

Do you know? There are over million of exhibition showrooms taking place in worldwide each year. There also has been estimated at least hundred thousand of exhibitions in United States annually. According to the survey, this data was not including the private and press release exhibition yet! United States is one of the countries in the world, which spent over trillion dollars in the latest product/technology release exhibitions.

Chris, a college classmate of mine, now is involving himself in the exhibition showrooms industry as an Exhibition Promote Manager. In the last college reunion party, I’ve met him and had hours of casual chatting about our careers.

I did ask Chris what is the biggest challenge of being an Exhibition Promote Manager. Did you know what he answered me? He said, “Everyday is a new challenging day to me, no matter I’m at work or not!” wow, his answer really impressed me indeed.

Chris said that his main responsibility for his job is to make sure to find the most suitable location/venue and promote the exhibition to the public. Don’t think this is a relax task, as this will take him weeks, months or even years to prepare for the exhibition showroom.

Organizing an exhibition would cost at least thousand of expenses, for prevent the over budget condition occurring, Chris also need to find the exhibition equipments supplier that will sell those needed exhibition tools in a reasonable yet affordable price.

Chris that have 5 years related experience in this exhibition promote industry, asking me why most of the brochure holders we see at exhibitions, will always or nearly place near the light boxes? Well, I answered him, “It is because the attendants love to read?”

“Beep, wrong,” Said Chris. “Then, what is the reason?” I keep asking Chris.

“Most of the exhibition attendants frequently will be attracted first by the light box, especially those with LED sign or Reflecta design. They normally will walk to the counter and ask for more information or even take some brochure to read on it,” Said Chris with his hand holding a glass of Long Island.

“Wilson, are you a Formula One fans?” Chris asked me. “Yep, I’m a big fans of it,” I said.

“Have you ever attended those Formula One exhibition showrooms?”

“Yes, over couple of times and I loved its,” I answered Chris.

“Did you ever noticed the biggest different between the Formula One exhibition with others?”

I said, “Hmm…, I think the obvious different will be the big and eye-catchy vinyl banners for the Formula One exhibition.”

“You’re right this time, Wilson. Vinyl banners is the most efficient way to advertise one’s company, no matter in the Formula One exhibitions or the Formula One racing tournaments,” Said Chris with wacky smiling.

After hours of gathering, we all bid farewell to each other and hope we can meet again in the near future.

I learned some useful and valuable knowledge through the conversation with Chris, now I knew that organizing an exhibition is not as easy as we thought here. It will need perfect timing, money, and attendants to make it success!
