Interview With A Dance Student

After interviewing a high school senior girl, I learned a lot about dance types, classes, and recitals. Most interesting was the influence that these activities had on her as she was growing up. Now preparing for college in the summer, she enjoyed sharing with me about her experience through the years as she progressed from one level to another in dance.

Along with her best friend, she started dance when she was in 4th grade. Her first experience was attending a day camp for dance during the month of August. It was held at a local dance studio. At the completion of this camp, she signed up for dance classes which were held once a week during the school year.

At the camp, dress was very casual with shorts and t shirts being the average dancewear of the students. The camp lasted 2 weeks and gave the students an overview of what to expect in different choices of dance.This particular student started with jazz and ballet.

The camp was divided into groups of beginners, intermediate, and advanced students. There were some students who also took ballet and Cecchetti over the summer, took exams, and were able to be certified to teach specialty dance classes.

The student that I spoke with said that through the years she learned different forms of dance including ballet, Cecchetti, pom, tap,and jazz. Jazz was her favorite form of dance which she continued with every year until sometime in her teens.

With all the classes, practice, and recitals, she found that continuing dance through the rest of high school would be too demanding and time consuming. She then decided to discontinue her dance classes and concentrate on academics, basketball, and soccer.

She spoke fondly of her years involved with dance which she believes taught her a sense of discipline in her personal life as well as poise. She appears to be a very graceful young lady, comfortable with her body, and still able to do her dance moves very easily. She has continued to excel in academics and sports.

Act It Before Is Too Late...

Why I’m being so pessimistic here? It is because one of my best friends also my ex-classmate, Raymond has been passed away 2 days ago. He involved in a really horrible car accident and got himself killed right away at the incident. Poor Raymond as he only 27 years old…:(

Delicious Lingonberry Cheesecake

Whole Process: Preparation: 30 min; Chill: 4 hours; Bake: 40 min; Cool: 2hours

Ingredients

• 1-1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
• 1/2 cup finely chopped hazelnuts (filberts)
• 1/3 cup butter, melted
• 3 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
• 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
• 3 eggs, slightly beaten
• 1 14- to 14-1/2-ounce jar lingonberries or one 16-ounce can whole cranberry sauce

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degree F. For crust, in a small bowl combine graham cracker crumbs, hazelnuts, and butter. Press into bottom of a 9-inch springform pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Cool on wire rack. For filling, in a large mixing bowl beat cream cheese, sugar, cardamom, and vanilla until smooth. Stir in eggs.

2. In a small saucepan heat lingonberries or cranberries over low heat until melted or completely softened; stir occasionally. Strain syrup from berries. (Cranberries have less syrup, so if using them, add enough cranberry mixture to drained syrup to make 3/4 cup.) Cover; chill syrup.

3. Reserve berries. Stir strained berries into cream cheese mixture. Pour cream cheese mixture over baked crust. Place springform pan in a shallow baking pan. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until a 2-1/2-inch area around the outside edge appears set when gently shaken.

4. Cool in springform pan on wire rack for 15 minutes. Using a small sharp knife, loosen crust from sides of pan. Cool for 30 minutes more. Remove the sides of the pan and cool cheesecake completely. Cover and chill at least 4 hours before serving. Stir reserved syrup; spoon over servings of cheesecake. Makes 12 servings.

Still Alive?

A cowboy rode into town and stopped at the saloon for a drink. Unfortunately, the locals always had a habit of picking on newcomers. When he finished, he found his horse had been stolen.
He comes back into the bar, handily flips his gun into the air, catches it above his head without even looking and fires a shot into the ceiling. "Who stole my horse?" he yelled with surprising forcefulness.

No one answered.

"I'm gonna have another beer and if my horse ain't back outside by the time I'm finished, I'm gonna do what I dun back in Texas and I don't want to have to do what I dun back in Texas!"

Some of the locals shifted restlessly.

He had another beer, walked outside, and his horse was back! He saddled up and started to ride out of town.

The bartender wandered out of the bar and asked, "Say partner, what happened in Texas?"

The cowboy turned back and said, "I had to walk home!"

The SQL Server data will resides on a remote server, and because it already includes a querying engine on it, so LINQ to SQL does not use the query engine of LINQ.
